With Arsenal hosting Watford at Emirates on Saturday, and Leicester City playing on Sunday; the Mauricio Pochettino led men to have an opportunity to sneak in a good performance and grab three points at Anfield against Liverpool to cut short the lead at the top by deducting the point difference to 2 points. Liverpool F.C has been giving good performances since the change of hands at the dugout, with Jurgen Klopp successfully imposing his style of high pressing football also termed as “gurged pressing”. With the league full of surprises this season, with surprise toppers and fall of major English giants; a loss for either team will not be a surprising result. We surely have a mouth-watering contest at our hands.
The game will be played at Anfield with Tottenham making an away trip at the end of an international break. In India, the game kicks-off at 10:00pm IST and will be telecasted live in India on Star Sports 2 and Sky Sports 1 in the UK at 5:30 PM BST. We will add the live stream of Liverpool vs Spurs 30 minutes before the match start and after that also add Highlights Video Replay of Goals scored in the match. Sky Sports Live Stream will be added here.
With a surprise defeat against Southampton F.C. in the last match day, Liverpool will look to start the final stretch of the Premier League with a win- and what better way than to beat a high-flying title-chasing team. Currently, Liverpool is positioned at the 9th place in the league and with regular wins in the kitty from upcoming matches, Liverpool might be preparing for Europa league next season.
EXPECTED LINE-UP: Simon Mignolet, Nathaniel Clyne, Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel, Alberto Moreno, Emre Can, Jordan Henderson, Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, James Milner, Daniel Sturridge. Subs: Divock Origi, Dejan Lovren, Kolo Toure, Christian Benteke, Joe Allen, Jon Flanagan, Danny Ward.
With Martin Skrtel back from a lengthy injury lay-off and playing as the sub in the last match, the experienced centre-back will regain his place in the heart of defense of Liverpool replacing Dejan Lovren. A hamstring problem to Roberto Firmino will force Klopp to alter the attacking front. The Brazilian is most likely to be replaced by Daniel Sturridge with Origi playing as the second striker. The recent surge of the form of Lallana under the German live-wire, he will be expected to play a role in the upcoming fixtures.Coutinho is likely to play as a number 9, just behind Daniel Sturridge. Where the Spurs will be looking to gain momentum for the title, the Anfield will look toward its team to score a win on the path to regaining their lost glory.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR: DLWLW
With a 5-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund in Europa League a few weeks before, Tottenham has only the premier league title set in their sights. With the top goal scorer of the League on their side, the team will look to surmount pressure on Leicester city before their late kick-off on Sunday
EXPECTED LINE-UP: Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Toby Alderweireld, Kevin Wimmer, Danny Rose, Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Bamidele Alli, Harry Kane. SUBS: Heung-Min Son, Ryan Mason, Michel Vorm, Kieran Trippier, Nacer Chadli, Ben Davies, Tom Carroll.
Goal scorer for England during the international duty masked men Harry Kane is likely to be in the playing XI with Pochettino unlikely to alter his young Tottenham side very often. Toby Alderweireld has recovered from his bug that kept him away from his national duties and he is likely to feature against Liverpool with the duty of keeping the likes of Sturridge and Coutinho at bay.
1) Nathaniel Clyne v/s Dele Alli
Dele Alli has been a revelation this season for the Spurs and has played a major role in the title push of his team. With 7goals and 11assists, Alli is the man that Liverpool needs to beware of. Nathaniel Clyne has also turned out good both for his club and nation this year, recently assisting a wonder goal of Jamie Vardy against Germany. A good performance by Clyne by keeping up with Alli’s pace and neat footwork could really choke the Tottenham side on one wing.
2) Toby Alderweireld v/s Daniel Sturridge
With frantic pace, acceleration and clinical finishing- Daniel Sturridge has the ability to break defenses on his own only when he is not with the medics. With Benteke and Origi a doubt for the match and Firmino injured, the responsibility of scoring goals for the Anfield faithful will be on his shoulders. The only obstacle in his path will be a Belgium international- Toby Alderweireld. Alderweireld has been a defensive fort at the back of Tottenham defense. His reading of the game and tackling have really been the main reason behind the miserly defense of the title contenders.
With youthful exuberance, pace, energy, skill and motivation Tottenham is likely to have an upper hand over Liverpool. A draw could be on hand, but dropping points could really spoil the dream of league success for the Spurs.
Predicted Scoreline– 2-1. Tottenham win
