Kolkata Knight Riders- KKR IPL 2016 Team Squad [Finalised]

KKR IPL 2016 Team Squad: Kolkata Knight Riders is owned by the Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan. This team is tagged as one of the glamorous squads existing in the Indian Premier League. The team has performed well in the previous eight years and were even the champions of 2012 and 2014. But IPL 2015 was not that great for Kolkata Knight Riders. They were unable to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

The management has retained 15 players from the previous year 2015 squad. There are 9 Indian players including the skipper Gautam Ghambir, Umesh Yadav, Yusuf Pathan, Robin Uthappa and Piyush Chawla. The star international players include Brad Hogg, Morne Morkel, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. The main issue which this squad is the absence of middle order batsman who can sneak out quick runs.

Kolkata Knight Riders IPL Auction Budget 2016:

The management has already spent Rs 48.05 crore in keeping the 15 players back in the squad. The owners are left with only Rs 17.95 crore to buy players who can fit in the squad. There are some famous middle order batsmen who would be available for this year’s auction and Kolkata Knight Riders would be aiming to place their chances.

KKR Auction Results 2016:

This year’s auction hasn’t done any good to the present squad. Kolkata Knight Riders have bought John Hastings who is expected to help in the lower-order. This all-rounder might prove effective if the team maintains a good balance. The other signings include Colin Munro, Jaydev Unadkat and Jason Holder.

Expectations from KKR in IPL 2016:

The team is being mentored by Jacques Kallis who is available for the whole 2016 season. His expert guidance would surely improve the team’s performance. The opening pair consists of Gautam Gambhir who is quite consistent and can sneak out runs in the power play overs. Robin Uthappa and Yusuf Pathan need to work on their ball judgement which is their biggest weakness in the T20 games. Spinners are the biggest strength of this squad which can help them gain winning points. Their first match would make it evident how Kolkata Knight Riders would travel in this competition.
