India vs Sri Lanka Highlights: India won by 5 wickets: Asia Cup T20 2016 will be a spectacle and a preview of how teams are going to play in the upcoming ICC World T20 in India. The Asia cup 2016 will be played in the T20 format for the first time and is scheduled from 24th February 2016 to 6th March 2016.
1st March will see India clash against the Sri Lankans, again. But this time, the Sri Lankans will have all their major players in their XI like Angelo Mathews, Rangana Herath and Lasith Malinga (depending on fitness). Despite losing to India 2-1 in the T20I series, Sri Lanka unearthed a brilliant and skillful fast bowler in Kasun Rajitha and we also got to see what Dushmantha Chameera can do with his pace.
India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2016 T20 Match Highlights
Sri Lankans getting their main players back will mean that captain Angelo Mathews will have some more options to go with. His batting lies in the hands of veteran Tillakaratne Dilshan, Thisara Perera, and Dinesh Chandimal, Mathews himself and Thirimanne and Kapugedera. Spin department will be led by a hopefully fit Rangana Herath and Sachitra Senanayake along with maybe Ajantha Mendis or Sekkuge Prasanna. Fast bowling is securely in the hands of Lasith Malinga (if fit), Nuwan Kulasekara (if fit), Dushmantha Chameera and Rajitha. They would definitely want to get some revenge for the 2-1 series loss.
India, on the other hand, would like to try out their bench strength in the tournament and we can see more chances given to Pawan Negi and Harbhajan Singh. They were the two players included in both the Asia Cup squad and World T20 squad, not to play any game in the Sri Lanka T20I series. But with Jadeja, Ashwin doing so well and Yuvraj and Raina providing valuable support, India will not want to fiddle much with a winning combination.
India might want to try out some combinations in the batting and if Mohd.Shami returns to the squad, it will mean that one of Nehra or Bumrah will have to sit out because Pandya is worth in gold with the bat and bowl. Apart from that, Ajinkya Rahane will find it tough to make a spot for him, since Kohli will return to claim his number 3 spot and other spots are cemented with Raina at 4, Yuvraj at 5 and Dhoni at 6 with Pandya to follow. His only chance can come if any of the openers is injured or go drastically out of form.
Prediction: India will have the upper hand here also and it will be a good chance to get the revenge for the World T20 final loss of 2012.
